This month’s report will cover police officers who were charged with driving while intoxicated, a car accident in Rochester, and a serious accident involving a tractor-trailer.

Woman Arrested After Rollover Accident

On Saturday, March 24, a rollover accident occurred on the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Rochester. The accident happened around 9:15 pm in the eastbound lanes according to the authorities and a 25-year-old woman was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI and she registered almost three times the legal limit with a BAC of .22. The woman was not injured but two passengers in her car were injured and taken to Rochester General Hospital. The accident also caused a large backup of traffic.

NYPD Officers Charged With Driving Under The Influence

On Sunday morning, March 18, two NYPD officers were caught driving under the influence in two separate instances. The first incidence was a 48-year-old NYPD sergeant who crashed into a parked car around 12:30 pm in Brooklyn. When police responded to the accident they discovered the man was driving drunk. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and suspended without pay. The second instance happened around 2:30 am and involved a 21-year-old NYPD cadet. The cadet was driving in the wrong direction on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx and ended up rear-ending an ambulance. He fled the scene of the accident but was eventually pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence.

Man Arrested After Crashing Into A Parked Tractor-Trailer

On Friday, March 9, a 25-year-old man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a parked tractor-trailer in a convenience store parking lot. The Port Jefferson Station man was driving west at about 2:00 am on Route 25A when he lost control of his car. He crossed over the median, went over a front lawn, sideswiped a light pole, and crashed into the parked truck. The man was trapped inside the vehicle and the rear of his car caught fire. The fire was put out by police who then freed the man using the Jaws of Life from his car who was unconscious. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
