Police Officer Shoots & Injures DUI Suspect After He Resists Arrest On Long Island
A police officer recently shot and wounded a DUI suspect in Suffolk County, New York after the suspected individual resisted arrest.
According to reports from NBC New York, the 34-year-old suspect was pulled over in the Sunwave Shopping Center parking lot in Patchogue, NY. However, when the responding officer approached the suspect’s vehicle the man allegedly fled the scene, dragging the officer with his vehicle before the officer could free his arm from the moving vehicle.
The suspect was later stopped on North Ocean Avenue in Medford, NY at approximately 2:45 a.m., according to police.
The responding officer reportedly fired one shot at the suspect after the man refused to comply with the officer’s commands and resisted arrest.
The man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.
He was ultimately charged with DWI with a prior conviction within 10 years, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Police say that a full investigation is being made into the events that occurred.
Off-duty NYPD Officer Arrested For DUI In Queens, NY
An off-duty police officer from the NYPD was recently arrested on suspicion of DUI after being involving in an auto accident in Queens, NY.
According to reports, the woman was driving in Queens on Friday, January 20th, at approximately 10:30 p.m. when she crashed into another vehicle on Cross Bay Boulevard.
Responding officers apparently suspected the woman of being under the influence after she had slurred her words. The woman reportedly refused a breathalyzer test. She was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test.
Man Arrested For Aggravated DWI & Resisting Arrest In Somers, NY
A man was recently arrested for aggravated DWI and resisting arrest after being pulled over for an motor vehicle equipment violation.
According to reports, the 28-year-old Yorktown resident was driving in Somers, NY on Saturday, January 7th, when police officers pulled him over for an equipment violation.
The officers on the scene suspected the man of being under the influence of alcohol and proceeded to administer standard field sobriety tests. During the field sobriety tests the suspect allegedly attempted to flee the scene by running off into a wooded area nearby.
Officers pursued the man on foot quickly caught him. The man allegedly submitted to a breath test in which his blood alcohol content registered at .18 percent. He was ultimately arrested for drunk driving and resisting arrest.
Suffolk County Police Arrest Woman For DWAI In Shirley, NY
A 53-year-old woman from Mastic, NY was arrested on DWAI charges in Shirley, NY after she was allegedly involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident.
According to reports from LongIsland.com, the woman was driving a 2002 Nissan Altima on William Floyd Parkway at approximately 11:25 a.m. when she attempted to make a right turn in a gas station, but mishandled the turn and crashed into one of the gas pumps. Witnesses say that another woman was pumping gas on the opposite side of the gas pump that was hit and she became wedged between the gas pump and her vehicle.
The victim was immediately rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, NY to be treated for serious injuries. She was later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital where she passed away from the injuries that she sustained in the tragic motor vehicle accident.
The 53-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle that crashed into the gas pump was arrested on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI).
