This month’s edition of the New York DUI Arrest Roundup includes many DUI-related incidents that occurred around the Greater New York City area including the arrest of an off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx, a wrong-way drunk driver in Westchester County and a DWI arrest on Staten Island.

Driver Arrested For DUI After Driving Wrong-way & Causing Accident On Parkway In Westchester County, NY

Do Not Enter Traffic SignA 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after allegedly driving the wrong way on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester County and causing a head-on collision.

According Westchester County Police, the wrong-way driver was heading Northbound in the Southbound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway near the Weaver Street exit in New Rochelle when she crashed into oncoming traffic.

The head-on collision occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16th.

Four people — including the wrong-way driver — were injured in the accident. Two of the injured passengers were taken to Jacobi Medical Center while the other two injured passengers were taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Two of the passengers suffered “serious” injuries in the accident, but all of the injured passengers were expected to survive.

The wrong-way driver was ultimately charged with reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.

Man From Pelham, NY Charged With DWI After Wrong-way Crash On Long Island Expressway (LIE)

A 41-year-old man from Pelham, NY was recently arrested on DWI charges after allegedly driving the wrong was on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) and ultimately crashing into oncoming traffic.

According to Suffolk County police, the man was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway for about 13 miles before crashing into another vehicle heading in the opposite direction just before 4 a.m. on Monday, May 22nd.

The other vehicle was being driven by a 24-year-old woman from Medford, NY. The Medford woman was taken to a nearby hospital on Long Island to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries that she sustained in the accident.

Man Arrested On DUI Charges After Driving Wrong Way On 3 Different Parkways In Westchester County

Police arrested a Long Island man on DUI charges during the early hours of Thursday, May 18th, after the man allegedly drove the wrong way on three different parkways in Westchester County, NY.

According to reports, police began receiving 911 calls at around 2:20 a.m. reporting a white vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle, NY.

Police say that the 34-year-old man from Old Bethpage then began heading west in the eastbound lanes of the Cross County Parkway before traveling north in the southbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway.

The wrong-way driver was ultimately stopped by a police officer in Yonkers, NY.

According to authorities, a small amount of cocaine was found in the man’s vehicle after he was arrested. The man is due to appear in court for arraignment later this month.

18-year-old Woman Killed & At Least 23 Injured After Intoxicated Driver Mows Down Pedestrians In Times Square

An intoxicated driver from Bronx, NY was arrested after intentionally driving his car into a crowd of pedestrians on a busy sidewalk in Times Square.

According to reports, the 26-year-old Navy Veteran drove his car from the Bronx to Manhattan on Thursday, May 18th, where he ultimately sped into a group of pedestrians in Times Square.

An 18-year-old woman from Portage, Michigan was killed after being struck by the vehicle and at least 23 other pedestrians were reportedly injured during the incident.

The man who drove into the crowd of people told police officers that he was high on PCP-laced marijuana when he decided to drive into the crowd of pedestrians in Times Square. Police say the man had been convicted of two previous DWI-related offenses before the incident in Times Square.

Specifically, the man was convicted driving while intoxicated after police stopped his vehicle and arrested him on April 22, 2015. He also lost his license for three months and plead guilty to a DWI in Queens, NY in 2008.

Off-duty NYPD Officer Charged With DWI After Crashing His Vehicle In Bronx, NY

Any off-duty police officer from the New York Police Department (NYPD) was recently arrested on DUI charges after crashing his vehicle in the Bronx.

According to police, the 36-year-old off-duty NYPD officer was driving his Jeep on the morning of Monday, May 29th, when he allegedly ran into a metal barrier near Webster Avenue and East 169th Street in Claremont Village, NY.

Police officers arrived at the scene of the accident and questioned the off-duty officer who reportedly seemed intoxicated. The man allegedly refused to take a blood alcohol test and was eventually charged with driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court for the DUI arrest.

Driver Arrested On DWI Charges After Being Involved In Crash That Injured 3 On Staten Island

A 59-year-old driver was arrested on DWI charges after crashing into a utility pole in Annadale, NY.

According to police, the allegedly drunk driver was driving on Staten Island near the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Arden Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20th when the incident occurred.

A 55-year-old woman in the front seat reportedly suffered critical injuries during the accident. The driver and a 60-year-old woman seated in the back of the vehicle both suffered neck and back injuries during the accident.
