July 6 – Drunk Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Minivan In Farmingdale, NY

Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI)A 23-year-old man from Rocky Point was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a car crash on Long Island recently. According to reports, the man was driving westbound on College Road in Blue Point Beach at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6th, when he crashed into a minivan.

Witnesses say the accident occurred at the intersection of College Road and Waverly Avenue. Five passengers in the minivan were reportedly injured during the accident. Police arrived at the scene of the incident and arrested the 23-year-old man on drunk driving charges.

July 9 – Mount Vernon Man Arrested On Drunk Driving Charges In Scarsdale, NY

Police arrested a 30-year-old man from Mount Vernon on DWI charges and several other offenses after leading Scarsdale police officers on a chase. According to reports, a police officer was conducting DWI enforcement on Post Road during the early hours of Sunday, July 9th, when the officer observed a 2009 Acura traveling at a high rate of speed and crossing lanes.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating his sirens and lights, but the suspect allegedly accelerated in an effort to evade the traffic stop.  Three police units followed the suspect’s vehicle all the way to Scarsdale Boulevard before a police sergeant reportedly told the officers to stop following the vehicle.

Eastchester police then reported a rollover accident at the intersection of Post Road and Hilldale Place approximatley two minutes later. Police eventually confirmed that the car involved in the rollover accident was the same vehicle that was being chased by Scarsdale officers.

Police say that the 30-year-old driver crawled out of the car and ran down the street, but they found the man near Park Drive and Leewood Drive. Police arrest reports indicate that the man’s breath smelled of alcohol and that his speech was slurred. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center to be treated for injuries that he sustained in the accident. The man allegedly refused to submit to submit to a blood test while at the hospital.

He was ultimately arrested on charges of intoxicated driving with a prior conviction, use of a leased vehicle without an ignition interlock device, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to obey a police officer.

July 16 – Police Arrest Man In Fatal DWI Crash On Grand Central Parkway In Queens, NY

Law enforcement officers arrested a 33-year-old man on DUI charges after responding to a fatal car accident that occurred on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens earlier this month. According to reports, the New Jersey resident was speeding westbound on the Grand Central Parkway in Jamaica at approximately 6:30 a.m. when his car sideswiped another vehicle heading in the same direction.

Police say the man lost control of his vehicle which proceeded to cut across three lanes of traffic and ultimately crashed into an SUV, forcing both vehicles into the eastbound lanes of the highway. A 38-year-old woman was driving a Mercedes SUV in the eastbound lanes when the out-of-control vehicles crossed the median and entered the oncoming traffic. The woman had to swerve out of the way in order avoid being hit, but her efforts caused her car to roll over.

Two of the passengers in the allegedly drunk driver’s vehicle were ejected and killed during the tragic incident. The man suffered a minor head injury and was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital where he was ultimately arrested on DUI charges.

Law enforcement officers say that the man was charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment, DWI and reckless driving.

July 16  – Woman Arrested On DUI Charges After Intentionally Hitting Police Car In Lido Beach

Law enforcement officers say they arrested a Queens woman on drunk driving charges and other violations after the woman intentionally drove her vehicle into a police cruiser on Long Island.

According to reports, the 23-year-old woman from Jaimaca, Queens was arrested in the parking lot of Nickerson Beach Park at 7:49 p.m. Cops charged her with drunk driving, reckless endangerment and assault.
