Man Arrested For DUI After Illegally Dumping Air Conditioner In Staten Island, NY
A Manhattan man was arrested on DUI charges last month after he allegedly dumped an air conditioner illegally in Port Richmond, NY.
According to reports, two police officers, including a New York City Department of Sanitation (NYSD) officer, witnessed the 51-year-old man illegally dump an air conditioner in front of 121 Park Avenue at around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15th.
The two officers stopped the man’s vehicle shortly after he had fled the scene and during the vehicle stop the man allegedly told the officers that he was driving with a suspended license. After further investigation, the responding officers suspected that the man was driving under the influence.
According to DSNY, the suspect was arrested and transported to the 7th Precinct in Manhattan where he was tested for drugs and alcohol. The man allegedly registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.187% on a breathalyzer test – well over New York’s legal limit of 0.08%.
The man was then transported back to the 121st Precinct on Staten Island where he was booked on DUI charges.
Man Arrested For Drunk Driving After Crashing With Daughters In Car In Long Island, NY
A man was recently arrested for driving while intoxicated in West Babylon, NY after being involved in an accident while his two daughters were in the vehicle.
According to reports, the 53-year-old man from Long Island was driving with his 5 and 6-year-old daughters in the car when he rear-ended a pick-up truck at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, February 18th.
Police say that the suspect and his daughters were all transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The man was ultimately arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and driving under the influence with a child 15 years old or younger.
Two Long Island Men Arrested For Involvement In Fatal DWI Accident In Nassau County
A 20-year-old man from Manhasset was recently arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated for his alleged involvement in a fatal DWI accident.
According to court documents, the suspect was driving a BMW eastbound on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) on Thursday, February 23rd, when he crashed into a guardrail on the right shoulder at approximately 11:48 p.m.
A passenger in the back seat of the man’s car was fatally ejected from the vehicle at the time of the accident. The suspect was arrested by police officers on the scene of the accident and was being held on $50,000 bond.
Long Island Police also arrested another man on Saturday, February 26th, for his alleged involvement in the fatal DWI hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier in the week.
According to reports, the 19-year-old suspect from Muttontown was driving one of the vehicles involved in the multi-vehicle accident, but allegedly fled the scene of the accident before police arrived.
“My client is only 19 years of age, and I would chalk it up to inexperience and fright,” the 19-year-old suspect’s attorney said in regard to his decision to flee the scene of the crash.
Authorities say that they are investigating the 19-year-old man’s alleged involvement in the accident.
Suffolk County Police & A Good Samaritan Save 3 Men Involved In Fiery DWI Accident
Suffolk County police officers, along with a good Samaritan, helped rescue three individuals from a burning car involved in a DWI crash last month.
According to police, a 27-year-old man was allegedly driving while intoxicated with two other passengers in his vehicle when he crashed into a concrete divider on the Sunrise Highway North Service Road in Islip Terrace, NY on Saturday, February 18th.
Witnesses say that the vehicle caught fire after the accident and that the three individuals inside the vehicle became unconscious from the impact of the crash.
Police quickly responded to the scene of the accident and were able to rescue all three individuals from the fiery crash with the help of a good Samaritin.
“He did a tremendous job. His actions, you can’t put a price on that,” said one officer in response to the good Samaritan’s courageous actions.
Bronx Man Faces Multiple Charges After Being Arrested For DWI & Driving With A Suspended License In Scarsdale, NY
A man was arrested in Scarsdale, NY on Saturday, February 11th at approximately 6:30 a.m. for driving while intoxicated with a suspended license.
According to news reports, the 23-year-old man was allegedly driving near the intersection of Fenimore Road and Donellan Road in Westchester County when he was pulled over by police officers.
Officers say that during the vehicle stop it became apparent that the man was unsteady on his feet, had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.
The man allegedly told officers that he had consumed “two or three beers” at a bar in White Plains, NY earlier in the night, but claimed that he had stopped drinking long before driving because he was the designated driver for the night. According to police, the man also failed several field sobriety tests before submitting to a breath test that allegedly registered a BAC of 0.10%.
The man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle because his license was suspended when he was pulled over. He was taken to the station for booking and was ultimately released on his own recognizance.
Port Chester Man Arrested For Driving While Intoxicated By Drugs In Harrison, NY
A 25-year-old man from Port Chester, NY was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated by drugs and possession of drugs after being pulled over by officers on Sunday, February 5th.
According to State Police, the man was pulled over at 2:31 a.m. in Harrison, NY and was found to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine and other controlled substances.
A police expert determined that the man was under the influence of drugs, but the man allegedly refused to submit to breath or blood tests to determine if there were drugs in his system and, if so, what drugs those might have been.
He was ultimately charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for his possession of relaxant drugs, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for his possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of marijuana, DWI, and was issued multiple traffic violations.
