NYPD Detective Arrested & Charged In Fatal DWI Accident In Queens, NY

An off-duty detective from the New York Police Department (NYPD) was recently arrested and charged with drunken driving, vehicular manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for his involvement in a deadly drunk driving accident in Queens, NY.

According to reports, the 32-year-old detective was driving southbound on the Van Wyck Expressway at an “unsafe” speed early on Sunday, April 23rd, when he rear-ended a Honda sedan heading in the same direction.

The crash sent the rear-ended Honda into a tree and light pole on the side of the road.

All three passengers in the Honda suffered critical injuries in the accident and were taken to Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY.

The 22-year-old woman driving the Honda died while being treated for her injuries at the hospital, while her younger sister (21) and her younger sister’s boyfriend (20) were both in critical condition.

The NYPD detective was ultimately arraigned in Queens Criminal Court where he was charged with vehicular assault, assault, driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test.


Pleasantville Woman Arrested On DUI Charges In Scarsdale, NY

A woman from Pleasantville, NY was recently arrested for drunk driving after being stopped and questioned for suspicious behavior in Scarsdale, NY.

According to reports, law enforcement officers were on auto larceny patrol on Gate House Road in Scarsdale during the early hours of Sunday, April 23rd, when they noticed a woman park her car on the side of the roadway and walk onto the front lawn of a nearby property.

The 41-year-old woman allegedly walked onto the front lawn of the property and then into another area of the property lined with trees.

Police say that they deemed the woman’s behavior suspicious due to the recent vehicle break-ins that have been occurring in the Scarsdale area.

Officers on the scene approached the woman who quickly re-entered her vehicle, according to reports. Police say that the woman was not able to provide a good reason for her behavior or for being on the property when she was questioned.

The woman allegedly failed multiple field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a roadside breath test several times before police placed her under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

She was eventually released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court later this year to face the charges.

Woman from Jamaica, Queens Arrested For Drunk Driving With 6-year-old Child In Uniondale, NY

Police arrested a 31-year-old Queens woman on DWI charges after responding to an auto accident on Wednesday, April 12th, in Uniondale, NY.

Law enforcement officers were responding to an accident near Jerusalem Avenue and Uniondale Avenue. According to reports, a 31-year-old woman was driving in Uniondale when her vehicle struck a parked car on the side of the road.

The woman was approached by the responding officers and allegedly she began yelling at the officers during the incident. Police took the woman into custody where it was determined that she had been driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
Police also say that the woman’s 6-year-old son was in the vehicle when the accident happened which, if convicted of driving while intoxicated, is a violation of Leandra’s Law.

The woman was ultimately charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Aggravated DWI), Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Resisting Arrest.

She was arraigned on the following day at the First District Court In Hempstead, NY.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Crashing Into MTA Bus In Manhattan, NY

According to reports, a man was arrested and charged with drunk driving after crashing into the back of an MTA bus in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Friday, April 28th.

The 27-year-old man was driving a Honda Fit on First Avenue near East 78th Street when he crashed into the back of the MTA bus.

The man reportedly exited his vehicle after the crash and walked away from the scene of the accident. He then returned to his vehicle a short time afterwards where police determined that he had been operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

According to official court documents, the man submitted to chemical tests that determined the man’s blood alcohol content was 0.18% – more than two times the legal limit in New York.

The man was arraigned in court where he was charged with Aggravated DWI, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol and Reckless Endangerment.

24-year-old College Student Dies In DWI Accident On Bronx River Parkway, Police Say

A college student was killed in a tragic drunk driving accident that occurred on the Bronx River Parkway during the early hours of Thursday, April 13th.

According to reports, a 22-year-old driver was heading southbound on the Bronx Parkway at approximately 3 a.m. near the Norwood section of the Bronx when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a wall.

A 24-year-old who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash tragically died from the injuries sustained in the accident.

Emergency responders rushed the 22-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger to Jacobi Medical Center to be treated for critical injuries sustained in the accident.

The 24-year-old passenger died at the hospital while the driver remained in critical condition.
