Jets Linebacker Checks Into Rehab After DUI Arrests

After two DUI arrests in the past year, a 25-year-old Jets linebacker has checked into a rehabilitation facility for treatment. The football player was first arrested and charged after driving the wrong way in the Lincoln Tunnel causing an accident which injured 4 people on February 26. He had previously been arrested in his hometown of Billings, Montana in May of last year on another DUI charge. He had a court date on April 11 for the Lincoln Tunnel incident and checked into rehab shortly after. The Jets released a statement which stated that the team supported the player’s decision and has a support system in place for when he returns.

Crash That Killed Engaged Couple Results In DWI Charges

Five cars were involved in a fiery crash that occurred on Wednesday, April 4 in Inwood, Nassau County. One car burst into flames trapping a newly engaged couple inside. The couple, unable to be rescued from the vehicle died at the scene and five more people were seriously injured in the accident. A 25-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man from Brooklyn were arrested and charged with DWI in connection with the accident. The deceased couple was laid to rest on Thursday.

19-Year-Old Woman Arrested For DWI After Crash In Long Island

On Friday, April 20, a young woman crashed her Nissan Rogue into the back of a truck becoming stuck. Her vehicle was dragged by the truck for about a quarter of a mile on the Sunrise Highway until the truck driver realized what had occurred. When the truck driver stopped the vehicle, the young woman’s vehicle caught fire and she became trapped inside. Two people who were driving by attempted to free her and Highway Patrol arrived to assist them. The woman was safely removed and the fire was put out. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and then arrested and charged with DWI.

Man Arrested For DWI In Long Island With Baby In The Vehicle

On Sunday, April 8, a 25-year-old Long Island man was arrested for DWI. Police were contacted after witnesses saw the Honda CRV strike a tree on Clearstream Avenue and a man exit the vehicle and remove a car seat to flee on foot. Police soon found him intoxicated and took him into custody. His 9-month-old daughter was released to her mother after being taken to the hospital as a precaution.
