 Man Arrested In Fatal DUI Accident In The Bronx

DWAI / Alcohol ChargeOne man was killed and another man has been arrested following a fatal car crash in the Bronx last week.

According to reports, a 30-year-old man from Norwalk, Connecticut was heading northbound on the Bruckner Expressway near exit 7C at around 6:50 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked construction vehicle.

The driver survived the crash along with two of the passengers, but one of the passengers tragically died in the accident. The driver is currently in custody and is facing several charges including vehicular manslaughter, two counts of assault and refusing to submit to a breath test.

Off-duty NYPD Officer Arrested On DWI Charges After Flipping SUV On Long Island

An off-duty police officer with the New York Police Department (NYPD) was recently arrested after being involved in a single-vehicle accident on Long Island.

According to reports, the 40-year-old woman was driving her SUV at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 4th, when the accident happened. Officials say the off-duty police officer was driving on the Robert Moses Causeway when she lost control of her vehicle, crashing into a wooden barrier and sand dune. The impact of the crash caused the large SUV to roll over onto its side.

Her 8-year-old son was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to rescue the woman and her son from the vehicle. Emergency responders say that the woman driving the vehicle suffered minor injuries while her 8-year-old son was not injured.

She was charged with aggravated DWI with a passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law), as well as refusing to submit to a breath test.  She was also suspended from the NYPD without pay until further notice and will appear in court on September 18th to face the charges.

Long Island Man Arrested In Nassau County On DWI Charges With Two Toddlers In The Car

Nassau County police officers arrested a Long Island man on suspicion of drunk driving after responding to a call from a concerned citizen in the town of Bayville, NY.

According to officials, a 911 call came in at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21st. When local police officers arrived at the scene they found a 33-year-old man asleep at the wheel of a 2009 Toyota. The man’s two-year-old son and his eight-year-old daughter were both sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when police arrived.

Police determine that the man was intoxicated and arrested him on felony charges of DWI with a person under the age of 15.

Man Arrested On Felony DUI Charges After Allegedly Striking His Stepson With Vehicle In Centerport, NY

A 42-year-old Long Island man was arrested recently after he allegedly struck his 13-year-old stepson with his vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to reports, the stepson was walking the dog just outside of the house at about 5:50 p.m. on Monday, September 4th, when the incident occurred.

Police say that the man’s other stepson – a 9-year-old boy – was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The 13-year-old boy was transported to the Stony Brook University Hospital via helicopter to be treated for injuries while the Centerport Fire Department transported the 9-year-old boy to Huntington Hospital.

The man was arrested on aggravated DUI charges and endangering the welfare of a child.
